Using the precedent images below, I have created, constructed and rendered a number of digital models, along with one physical model. The process in order to make these models was to outline the images, then solidify them in Solidworks, then use tools in 3DS Max to give them shape and form.
PRECEDENT IMAGES
This image of a dragon in the dusk is the main precedent, relating to what my final model may look like as a finished product, when rendered in 3DS Max
The image to the left was used to create the wings- Using the sketch tool on SolidWorks I outlined the wings shown in this image to create my second digital model
This one resembles the second of my digital models- the flame
Precedents for my first and second models- along with the main precedents for my final rendered image, including the city on fire and the main flaming dragon itself
DIGITAL MODELS
Below are my two secondary models rendered individually. The first image is of my model based on dragons wings, facing a moonshadow. Using a solid sphere as my base for the image, I placed an image of a dragons shadow on it to create a scary atmosphere, as it stands out amogst the light of the moon. The second image is of my flame model placed on a fireball-like sphere, remsembling a sun. When rendering these models, I used a reflecting tool on Material Editor to reflect these images against their bases, simply to make the model 'come alive.' The different kinds of tools used in 3DS Max were successful in putting these images together.
Below is a concept image of my final model, edited and rendered. As the image is quite dark, it relates to the image of the wings against the moon as it has that same spooky atmosphere. Both these images are associated with darkness and evil. The shadow is not that of the model, but I thought the shadow of something else made the image look a little scarier, so I decided not to use the shadow tool in the end.
FINISHED PRODUCT RENDER
All three digital models were placed together in the same atmosphere to create one whole image of a winged, fire breathing dragon. In a way, these three models make one, as the image may only appear to be one model. The rendering of these images were done in a similar way to the above images, as they were created in different kinds of atmospheres from different angles. One of the images resembles a story of a fire breathing dragon destroying a city.

PHYSICAL MODEL
Using the final model as my concept, the physical model below was made from wax, then soaked in Sodium Hydroxide to put the shape into perspective.
